What a funds hold is

A funds hold means you ask the buyer to place a set amount with Exportain against an order. The buyer pays by card; Exportain holds the money. It is released to you only after you file the export clearance and the buyer confirms the trade is complete.

Requesting a hold

  1. Open Orders. Press Request hold on the order's row.
  2. Enter the Amount (in the order's currency). The platform fee shows below under Your payout on this hold.
  3. Optional Reason (optional) — what you agreed with the buyer and what this hold covers.
  4. Press Request hold. The buyer and an admin are told at the same time.
The Request a funds hold box: amount, your payout breakdown, reason and the request button
  1. 1. Amount — how much, in the order's currency, you ask the buyer to place on hold.
  2. 2. Your payout on this hold — what is deducted (platform fee 0.5%, card fee, bank transfer cost) and when you are paid. The fee appears as soon as you type an amount.
  3. 3. Reason (optional) — what you agreed with the buyer and what the hold is for. A clear reason gets paid faster.
  4. 4. Request hold — send it. Changed your mind? Press Cancel.

Filing export clearance

  1. Once the hold is funded, a File clearance button appears on the order's row.
  2. Document link — a link to the shipment's clearance documents (https://…).
  3. Optional Document number (optional).
  4. Press File clearance. The buyer can now review the documents and Mark trade complete.

When and how much you are paid

  • The money should be sent within 7 days of the hold being completed (your clearance + the buyer's confirmation). This is a target date for an Exportain staff member — not an automatic timer; staff make the bank transfer and record it.
  • It is paid in Bangladeshi taka (BDT) into your approved bank account, at the exchange rate on the payout day.
  • The buyer pays exactly the hold amount; no fee falls on the buyer.
Deducted from your payoutHow much
Platform fee0.5% of the hold (rounded down to the currency's smallest unit — never more than 0.5%)
Card processing fee (Stripe)The actual cost
Bank transfer costThe actual cost

Example: on a USD 1,000 hold the platform fee is USD 5.00; the actual card fee and transfer cost come off too, and the rest is sent in taka at that day's rate. Once Released, the portal shows the full breakdown: total − card fee − transfer − platform fee @ rate.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

7 days have passed and the money hasn't come.
7 days is a target; if it is late, write to support@exportain.com with the order number. Check that your bank account is approved.
What happens to the order if the buyer declines the hold?
The order stays as it was. You can request a new hold if you want.
Can I be paid in dollars?
No. By policy, payouts are in BDT, into a Bangladeshi bank account.
